    Postcard from Maui

    Hi all:
We're coming to the end of our vacation on Maui. Thought I'd post some pics from here before we headed home. It's been fabulous here, didn't rain until today, but that didn't keep me and my son from snorkeling. The only disappointment has been the Royal Lahaina Luau, very commercially packaged, expensive mediocre food and average entertainment. We did some snuba, a lot of snorkeling at different beaches and coves, some touring of the island by car, and a lot of general lounging at the pool at night (it's hot and humid out here).

Just gorgeous Leon! Other than the commercialized luau, it sounds as though you had a wonderful vacation. Enjoy the last of your vacation. I sure hope you post more photos when you get home. These are great!

Super looking family you have there!

Thanks Pixie. We went to much more authentic luau on Oahu 16 yrs ago on our honeymoon, so we're very disappointed with this one. The kids didn't know the difference, but I wasn't pleased, especially with the very soupy poi, and the overly salty meats. Thanks for the compliments. I'm very pleased with the performance of my new camera (panasonic dmc-fz5), not as crisp and capable as my 1D Mk II, but it weighs half as much with 2 extra batteries than one of my 1D batteries alone. I could live with this camera as my everyday camera.

Thanks Lara. These are the better composed shots I took. Most were on the fly snaps of the kids playing, plus a lot of the photos didn't turn out well as I was still really learning to handle the controls on the new camera. Once I got the hang of the buttons and menus, it really is a very nice camera (Panasonic DMC-FZ5). I really wanted the FZ20, but B&H didn't have it in stock, so I settled for the next one down the line.

It took 16 years for my wife and I to make it back ;) Hopefully won't wait that long again.
