    I think that image is actually quite nice! I can tell which species it is and a GOOD image is needed to ID it

    GAMBEL'S and CALIFORNIA QUAIL look quite similiar in appearance..... your QUAIL are. CALIFORNIA QUAIL

    My wife spotted this hawk just a few moments ago in our church's yard next door. Didn't have any time to really adjust any settings and just hurriedly shot in Av mode with auto wb (which explains the blurry picture and his head nearly chopped off). He apparently killed a pigeon and was making dinner out of him. Then he flew away and rested on the telephone pole for a minute or so.
