Classic turtle dove shot. This little fellow was just sitting there calm and as tranquil as can be, just begging for his picture to be taken.

I like the monotonous tones of this shot. If I ever do a green theme or something, this shot would be there!

BTW EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!! The east coast has had very bad migratory conditions for the last 4-5 days! TOMORROW the winds and climate will turn to GREAT conditions! Over the next 2-5 days here in NJ we will have a strong migratory push of raptors and neotropicals!

Be on the look out for warblers over the next week and a very strong possibility of a broudwing push. Broudwinged hawks migrate in huge groups from 10's to many hundreds in a group!!!!!!!!!

With time it will get somewhat easier! I didn't wake up one day knowing suttle differences between neotropicals :)

Btw... Since music was brought up a few days ago....

I listen to George Jones in the background on my PC . "The cold hard truth" just started :D

    All Flocked Up
Sorry for the poor detail. This is a 12x zoom - handheld.
2 species but probably not enough detail for the one in the marsh.
I don't know if these guys are flocked up, getting ready for migration, or just all finding good feed in this shrinking pond.

It appears to me that you have 7 great egrets, a great blue heron on the left and the middle bird is a young great blue heron?

"Ophelia" has swallowed up my front, so I will update the thread when a good front is coming AGAIN ;) Merrill Creek is getting a decent flight though !

As for your birds... 1st is a great crested flycatcher and the 3rd is a yellow warbler

THE SECOND IS A HARD ONE

It looks warbler like(wilson's, hooded), oriole like and somewhat female scarlet tanager like!

I will send that image to my cousin to see what he think, as I can't get past the oriole look with a wilson's warbler head color!

BTW..... What does "orlew" discribe in you image's name

The orle was short for Oriole the w was added when I renamed the picture after down sizing it for this site, short for web.

    indigo bunting ;)

I am nearly 100% sure your hard bird is a young northern(baltimore) oriole, but that cap made me exited that it may be a wilson's warbler! Wilson's warbler is my hardest bird to find and photograph so far in NJ!

You have got that right! I have a few flocks of turkeys in the area...... 1 has to be 40+ birds(on duke's estate and the surrounding area)

BTW.... I seen 12 + kestrels and atleast one merlin today in some far fields in my area! too far for good images, so I just watched them with my binoculars
