Wasn't sure if this capture would work best in color or B&W but consensus so far as been in favor of B&W.

    Ray

The image has just enough contrast for a fine b&w image. I especially like the starkness of the subject with the cloudy/stormy sky in the background. Great composition.

I agree with Liz on the shot that you posted Ray. Good work!

In fact, there's some seriously good images posted all throughout this thread. I'm thrilled with the work being displayed here.

    'Side Tracked'.

    'Mainline'.

    'Leave Alone'.

I'm hoping the reason for these 3 images is more than evident from the symbolism and the titles. I chose the tracks because of the joint use of the word tracks, like "tracks in a hammerhead's arm". I also chose the most unattractive bits of railway track that I was able to photograph. Being allowed to ride on the outside of an engine to get these shots was fantastic. I hope you're all turned off by the dirty and dismal look of the shots and what is being portrayed ... the rush I had was fair dinkum.

Great contributions to the thread dizzy. They are all very nice but I really like number three. Looks like you are going to fit right in here.

    Here are 3 old ones.

Shot with 35mm film (gasp!) either Kodachrome 64 or Fujichrome Velvia/Provia and converted in PS. Zeiss lenses.

Don't know if these colorful scenes render well in B&W though.

The third image in the hard drugs/railway metaphor series seems to have come adrift. Here it is again.

    'Leave Alone'.

Re: Post your b&w images - digital or film....

I have a new series called 'I want to be a Cowboy' based on a twist to the 1980s song 'I wanna be a cowboy'. The new series has been inspired by the worst drought in our Nation's history, which SE Australia is suffering, right now. These are the first five images in the series which I started today. If you remember the old song from the 80's please hum the tune while you read the image titles.

'I want to be a Cowboy'
I want to be a Cowboy ... but cows do not smell nice.

'I want to be a Cowboy II'
I want to be a cowboy ... but cowboys get too weary.

'I want to be a Cowboy III'
I want to be a cowboy ... but I'm scared to ride a big horse.

'I Want to be a Cowboy IV'
I want to be a cowboy ... but I don't pull my chaps on.

    'I want to be a Cowboy V'
I want to be a cowboy ... but the paddock dams are empty, the cows are all thirsty, as dry as dust.

    So far so good.

Bruce, thankyou Mate, it is nice of you to say.

I'm sorry to have reminded you of the song though. There is another song called 'I wanna be a cowboy's girllfriend'.

Ahhh!, the possibilities are endless, ... .

'I Want to be a Cowboy VI'
I want to be a cowboy ... but there is always a fast gun.

'I Want to be aCowboy VII'
I want to be a cowboy ... but get blank looks from the posse for wanting to convert kilowatts back to horsepower.
