A Picturing Adventure

Went out the other night on an adventure and brought the camera along with, got a few that I thought were alright and just wanted to share since I haven't been around here much with working at a camp all summer. Hopefully now that camp is over I can be around a little more often been lots of great stuff going on here in the short time that I wasn't around much that I'm seeing as play a little catch up now.

The first one with the moon is great. I also like the one with the stars moving. Great effect!

I really like the colours in these but #1 and #5 are terrific.

Thanks for all the comments guys. I was more than happy that I got so many shots that I was pleased with out of the ones that I took that evening. The girlfriend seemed to like #2 also when I showed her the photographic results of our adventure. Just wish I could have more nights like that one with the great colors and get so many good looking shots out of the bunch. Guess I'll just have to move farther north away from the cities and keep taking more pictures.

I really like the second and fourth shots. Care to share some data about all of them? What kind of camera and settings? I'm especially curious if you're shooting digital and the settings for the last shot.

Heres the data of the shots:
All were shot with D70s and either my kit 18-55 or 70-300
Not completely sure on ISO for all of them, either 200, 320, or 400.

#1 Aperture mode, metering: center avg., -0.7 ex comp, 145mm, f5.6, 1/30, tripod
#2 Manual mode, metering: center avg., -0.7 ex comp, 5sec self timer(I'm on the left), 18mm, f3.5, 1/8, tripod
#3 Aperture mode, metering: pattern, -0.3 ex comp, 90mm, f4.2, 1/400, handheld
#4 Aperture mode, metering: pattern, 250mm, f5.3, 1/1250, handheld
#5 Manual mode, 18mm, f3.5, bulb: 332sec (about 5.5 min), tripod

I edited everything with a slight curves adjustment and a few minor touches with the clone stamp since I haven't gotten around to cleaning my sensor yet.

I had done some of the long star shots before but with film and wasn't sure how well digital would do with the long bulb exposures. So this was my first try at it to see how well it works and since it seemed to work out alright, I think I might have to take another shot at it some time.

Guess I'm the wierd one, but I really like the horizontal bands of color in #3. Nice shots!
