    Photography programs Abroad?

    Hey guys!

I am just a casual photographer, I have my degree in Molecular Biology. But lately I have been thinking about delving deeper into photography but am not yet ready to change tracks entirely. I have a bit of time in the summer and I was wanting to take a program abroad (non-degree seeking) that would be a hands-on and teach photo techniques and could also serve as some fun traveling. I'd like it to be longer than a month too, I've found a few but they were less than a week. Anyone have any experience or know of any programs that may fit this?

I agree with Lori. There is a wealth of knowledge right here at PR and very friendly members eager to help.

I would start at a different place and that is with a good book and a camera. Unless of course your desparate to spend a load of money.

I would like to recommend a book I recently purchased which is the National Geographic Ultimate Field Guide to Photography. It takes you through what to look for in a camera and what lenses you may need, through to taking photos and the "so called rules" of composition, lighting... and how to use the compact/ DSLR / Film camera and then into post processing and printing. It has loads of examples from famous photographers and references several web sites for help including this one.

I have skim read some of it and now going to back to read in detail.

I did a semester abroad in New Zealand at Massey University in Wellington. I participated in the diploma program while i was there, and learned heaps about photography. Something to check out if you'd like.
