    Photography Fads

It seems to me there is photography fads that have come and gone. Selective coloring for one. I remember years ago that portraits had the two shots straight on and profile in the same frame, remember those? I am sure their are many more. It seems like magazines like SI are going for that grundgy desaturated look. HDR's have been around for longer than I thought they would be. But it seems good old classic photography is still the king. Just wondering can the old timers remeber any more from the past?

From the past? Cross-processing! That was a big one.

It seems to me the really good photographers nailed their style and stuck to it without following fads and trends. Most of them usally had a camera/lens and maybe film favorite and they stuck to it.

Cropping off the tops of heads seems to be pretty popular when it comes to portraits now. HDR is still around but I don't see nearly as much of the way over the top type of HDR that I use to. It seems people have toned it down a bit and are going for a more natural looking image.

I've been noticing extremely hi-key portraiture in some fashion magazines lately.

kids portraits are super processed and over-exposed right now. along with eyelashes as sharp as lasers, and freaky over processed eyes.
