Wow, the pics of the kids really put it in proportion.

By the way, Why are they moving it? Was it of historical significance? It doesn't look that great to me, but I dunno.

I believe it had belonged to the man that founded Alexandria Ohio. He was a civil war hero or something. The house was just undescribable inside. The wood work is out of this world. Spiral stair case, all solid wood construction.

Thanks Tyson. Interesting shots. Will we see any of the actual move?

    Re: A photo story

Very nice - good to see it moved rather than torn down. I used to be very interested in restoration but these days I have a hard time getting around to changing a light bulb... I was going to say that it looked like it was built in the 1870's (which works out with someone heading there after the Civil War. It's pretty unusual - at least compared to houses of that age around here, and apparently it's in good enough structural condition to warrant moving. Looks like the outside hasn't seen much remodeling over the years, making it even better.

I googled 'money raised to move house' and this is one of the hits: http://www.nationaltrust.org/Magazin...007/032807.htm

    Very interesting!

    Thanks for the photos!

They just don't make 'em like that anymore. Pick a house built today up like that and it'd crumble like a hard boiled egg.
