    A Photo Challenge

I got this idea from a post in the crit forum. I am going to post an image straight from my camera. No adjustments of any kind. I want you guys to take that image and fix it the way you think it looks best. Do anything you like. Clone, enhance, splice another image into it, change the color balance and levels. I don't care what you do. For the purposes of this post my image is your image.

    Happy Photoshopping!

    almo

BTW: This image was a mistake. I messed up with a string of images during this shoot. This is one that I liked for some reason or another. Can you make it work? We shall see...

    Aw, what the heck...

...I had some free time this afternoon.

No, I'm not gonna get into how I did it (honestly, it would take too long), but I can tell you that my final PSD file had 26 layers.

BTW, if you notice, the guitarist on the guy's t-shirt is now wearing the same shirt, we can see some of the brick wall that was BEHIND the guy before (wow!), and little did we know that there were Chinese "space babies" behind the wall itself...

Yeah, I know...just showin' off. Hey, it's Friday...

    Well, when you consider...

This really wasn't that big a file (layer wise) when you consider that each poster was a seperate layer, and each was matched to the textured paper. That's 16 right there...

Then you have the guy and bg seperated, the t-shirt guitarist, and the Chinese "space babies" (boy I love saying that!). So that makes 20. Throw in a few duplicate layers, some layers with masked details, and whatever, and it doesn't take long to get up in the mid twenties.

Time? I'd say it took me about three hours start to finish, but it's done in a style I use a lot on my web site, so much of it went quickly.

KING of PHOTOSHOP? Nah! I think of myself as more of a "Maharaja"...

Novice doesn't begin to descibe my level of Photoshop understanding and use! (Which is why I have Photoshop Elements 2.0 and not Photoshop CS) But I know enough to know that you have to be really good to do what you did. Three hours? You've got more patience than I've got.

I just finished with some images from my brother's wedding. I cloned out the dust, cropped a couple of them, and converted them to grayscale. I didn't spend three minutes on any of them. I can't image spending 30 minutes on an image, much less three hours. You have my respect and admiration, oh Maja....

    The pieces...

Despite what you may think, this really wasn't a terribly complicated illustration to do. I simply took photo elements, combined them, did some simple masking (torn posters, holes in the wall), seperated the subject from the bg (extraction tool) changed the colors of everything, and threw some drop shadows on everything to give it a little depth.

These are the seperate elements: the two posters, the textured paper, the subject, the bg (with cloned brick sections), and the Chinese "space babies" (hey, I heard a rumor they might be getting their own tv show soon!).

So funny kelly! I love it I think Revolver and I were thinking similarly. I love seeing everyone else's imagination. I must admit, I'm very impressed with the imagination and work that you are all showing. I posted mine before looking at anyone else's because I didn't want to influence myself from your ideas. It was a great surprise to look at them all after I iploaded my contribution. Fun idea, thanks for the thread.

Oh, and Steve, a little less time on the computer and a little more time doing things like cleaning house Just poking fun at you!

    Wow guys

This is totally incredible what you all have done! I mean, the talent, combined with the creativity... wouldn't you love to see all of the PR.com members come together and work on one project? The end result would be awesome.

ooohh, I hate to pick favorites, but um, the first one really caught my eye!

Good work to everyone! And great idea Almo!!

Fortunately, SATURDAY is cleaning day around here...

Truth is, the only other thing I'm working on this week are my Holiday post cards, and those look like they're gonna be pretty weird photoshopped things as well, so I was in the mood to play. The way I look at it, any practice with ps is good for me... ;)

BTW, I really like your idea, as well as the others. I know I have a tendency to go overboard with these things sometimes, and a few of the real smple designs here are very cool.

Wow! Just one day and look at the result. I love all of the images you guys have created. I think they all show a lot of personality and talent. To take somebody else's mistake and turn it into great art is a wonderful gift that I will not soon forget.

It is my wish that somebody would take the torch and step up to the plate with an image of their own. Only rule is it has to be unedited.

    Happy photoshoping!
