    For Paulnj

Heres some pics of the pooches....

Brutus is mine, the blue doberman

Cassidy is the traditional black and tan dobe- and she is "technically" my hubbys.

She and Gene Simmons could have been separated at birth, no? ;)
In this pic, she has a bump on her noggin... ran into the glass door.
    Doh!

    Cheers!

    VD

So lets see some of your dogs!!

the blue merle(though not as blue as they get) dobie is a GREAT strong lineage dog.

    hehehe

ok.... ALL my tosa and previous mastiff type images are on film.... no scanner

but I have this ONE image of SASQUACH(my departed TOSA INU) and an image of OTIS (out pug) from the same day scanned from a few years ago

keep in mind.... 26 inches of snow!!!!! taken with a WIDE ANGLE 19-35 for the tosa and a 80-200 for the pug

    Rogue

Hi Speed, yes Rogue is quite Solid. I am wondering what Brutus will be like at that age? Hes fast on his way at 70 pounds at 7 months. He's lanky right now, but at his awkwaerd stage, and will fill out soon. IF you pull up his loose skin on his neck hes got like 6 inches to grow into. Sheesh.
The dogs are purebred... we got them from a local breeder who came highly reccommended... she breeds Manchesters and Min Pins and recently won the big show... the name is slipping.. anyway... digressing...

if you want to see even bigger ones, go to

    http://www.desertlegend.us

I thought that their dogs are not AKC registered, but I checked again, and they are...
I think they are tweaking the lines- going back and mixing in some of the dogs that were used when first creating the Dobe.... but their dogs are HUGE. a 95 lb female is common for them.

Dobe and Rottie colors are similar. And when you get a fat dobe with uncropped ears, I suppose its easier to confuse?

    Talk to ya!!

That pug is cracking me up. He looks like a very old, very grumpy, man.

That pug WILL NEVER BE ANYTHING BUT THE HAPPIEST DOG IN THE WORLD!!!

The only time he was not happy was the 1st week after my last 2 mastiff types died, besides that...... he would lick you after you kicked him....... NO JOKE!

Geez...you might as well just get a pony!

We are thinking about a dog, and are looking for around 30 lbs full grown. Although ours will probably be a mutt from the humane society.

    Mutts rock!

    Hi Adina,
Mutts rock! Our girl Kona is a mutt from the pound-she is my GIRL! Pound dogs are so awesome. I think adopting is great. Jay (my hubby) has to ban me from http://www.petfinder.com
because I am emailing him hourly with dogs I want to go resuce.
We decided on a doberman because they are notorious for being so family-loyal and protective, and initially i wanted to get a rescue dobe, but because dobes are also notorious for being "attack dogs", we decided against adopting a rescue dobe since we have small kids. You just dont know what youre getting if the prior owners abused them or trained them to attack or what not- and if you dont have the time to correct all the bad training the poor dog went through before, it could be harmful to kids. Not that other dogs wouldnt be a risk too, but when you get dogs with bad reps from the start, you worry more. And not that all pound pups are abused or trained poorly... we just happen to live somewhere where that is the case about 80% of the time, and more often than not, the type of dog you see in our pounds are bad rep dogs.
Bringing a dog into my childrens life was the greatest thing. They love them.
I hope to see you post some pics of your new addition when he/she comes
They will be a life long buddy to your kids.

    An early congrats ;)

    Dog lover

Good estimates. I cant wait to see how it all pans out.
Like I said, he's kinda hit a growth plateau. I am sure I will see him picking up more weight and height in the next couple months.
115 eh? I always wanted a big dog.
Too bad he thinks he is a 5 lb lap dog. He smothers me on the couch.

Dang- 189? That is nuts. NOw that is a big dog.

My neo was a lap dog too

Michelle just pointed out a picture in the local newspaper of OSAKA (tosa inu on petfinder) that is WAY better looking than that image of a ratty tosa mix on his profile at petfinder ;)

MAYBE I will take a look, but he seems to look under the 145lbs cut off for me on ANY mastiff type besides a DOGUE DE BORDEAUX
