There have been two announcements of 100,000 ISO cameras recently – something that would have been useful for an event that I went to recently.
The Nuit Blanche is an all-night artistic “happening” at a number of sites across Paris. The theme is light and darkness. The idea is that you walk from one event to another.
One and a half million people turned out to see it this year.
I just went to a couple of pieces, D60 at 3200ISO and 35mm f1.8, hand held. Not really enough but it gives you an idea of what it was like to be out on the street that night
1. A mysterious glittering ball in the middle of one of the parks (Jardins de Luxembourg)
2. You had to queue to get in (as always). The photos on the railings are part of another exhibition
3. No successful Paris event is complete without a huge traffic jam. A scooter is the best way to get around
4. An event in a garden planted with light bulbs, illuminated by a light that waxed and waned bizarrely
5. The power for the lights in the garden was provided by – the spectators themselves, pedaling madly on bicycles turned into generators. And a good time was had by all.
