Old picture/new darkroom

Well, I finally went crazy and picked a shiny new Macintosh copy of Photoshop CS2 last night after work. Now that makes an hole in my pockets (I never owned a full version of PS before) but that's something I knew I would go for sooner or later.

Working directly on raw files is great! Colors and details are striking. The learning curve is there though. There is a whole lot more of features than there was in Element 2...

Good woodland colors! Just wait until you start to realize the possibilities with rendering b/w from color and all the ways one can rebalance and emphasize!

Wow!!! Snappy colors and contrast. Nice comp. I need to go back to shooting RAW for everything, but I just hate the added workflow. I'm tempted to get cs2, but we just spent a ton at the AACD on imaging software and services. Congrats on the software.

Nice image and shadow details and colors. I'm using PS 7.0 ( aquired mine off Ebay so I can't upgrade. . .but will eventually spring for the latest version) and had realized the jump in quality from a lesser software. Congrats to you and youi will soon get familiar with most of it's potential in time. The one thing I have learned that may have been the most important to me has been Edit as little as possible, and edit precisely.

Gary I think you might find you can upgrade the copy you purchased off of Ebay, unless it is Pirated of course. It just needs the number to use for the upgrade if you order off of Adobe, but you can get it off of B&H as well, I think the upgrade price is $149 from them plus postage but you live there so could just pick it up from them.

Thanks guys! I gotta love CS2 (well actually, I must considering how much it cost lol).

Say Peter, are you saying that Gary could go directly from Photoshop 7 to CS2 with the upgrade? I assumed that one had to go from 7 to CS to CS2 (and so on...).
That would be great if it wasn't the case.

It was sold to me as an OEM software, which I believe is what they bundle with buisness setups or company computers. The program is eligible for any updates on the website, but I don't think it is able to upgrade. It is the full version with Imageready as well ( I paid just over $100.00 for it, so to upgrade to CS2 for another 150.00 would be too good to be true.) I got it because of it's color management capabilities as it is far better than version 5.
