    Old Mojave Road

I picked up a 4x4 a couple months a go and have been active on a forum with fanatics of the Toyota FJ Cruiser. I joined a group of 7 others to run a trail from Laughlin, Nevada to Baker California. We traveled on a historic route called Old Mojave Road. We had to camp Saturday night during the Santa Ana winds. It was challenging. It was used by Native Americas and early American frontiers men. You can read more here:

I brought most of my camera gear but only used my Canon DREBEL and the Canon 24-70 f/2.8. I also used the Tamron 17-50 f2.8 on the last leg. I didn't use my 30D because it was mated to my zoom lens. I was anticipating seeing wildlife and wanted it ready. I never found any wildlife.

I'll slowly feed this thread photos.

Love the shot of the butte - exceptionally clear and sharp. Looks 3-dimensional on my monitor.

Sounds like you're having a great time with your 4x4. At least you're using it like it was designed for. Unlike the urban SUV's in my neck of the woods

I'm trying to enjoy the car in that way. Southern California has so much to offer as far as the "outdoors".....I'm only enjoying it now after being here so long.

I had no idea what a "butte" was. Hehhehe...thanks. The DREBEL is not the fastest gun but I still like the shots it takes when using RAW.

    Thanks again.

Your right I do and like this one in particular, very nice job. Looks a little different from the ones I get in my neck of the woods.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

That looks like a great place to spend some time.
I hope everything is OK with you and your family. Those fires are pretty intense!!

Thanks for the good thoughts. My household (Reseda) is closer to the city (Los Angeles) but the smoke is evident. We have relatives is those areas getting the reverse 911 calls for evac. i'm getting my house ready in case they need somewhere to go.

    Hoping this all ends soon.

And yes..it is a nice place to spend time it....the winds forced us to pack up to pack up and go. I hope we will take a slower pace next time.
