    old concept...

I've always wanted to take a picture like this.... and i was thinking about it as i was staring at this church's red doors. Wishing i had a victim, i sighed at the loss of opportunity. Until... i realized that Mr Yuck was standing right next to me (woa).

So anyway... here it is... slightly photoshopped. What'd you guys think?

Besides it being posted rather early/late, many people could still be recuperating from the weekend. ;)

I love the shot over all. You did a really nice job on it with bringing the color back to the door. Not sure yet how I feel about the window being cut off. Is this full frame, or did you crop it any? You picked a very photogenic person for the model.

One other bit of advice; though you may get some critique on your shot, it would do better response wise if it was on the critique forum.

I like the idea, but the color of the doors seems a bit drab to me. Was that the actual color or did you desaturate it a bit?

An old concept, but it came out rather nice. What technique did you use? I haven't fully mastered this idea.

    thanks,

Srobb- thanks for the feedback :P it probably would do better in the Critique forum. And no... i didnt crop any of the picture, but now that i look back at it, i think the window as a whole wouldve looked cooler as... well... a whole.

Almo- no, i didnt desaturate the door at all... that really was the color of the doors. I did mess with the curves on the black & white part of it though.

Shutterman- what technic? as in photoshopping? I kept one layer as the orginal and made a copy of that layer and desaturated it. There are many ways to go about getting the color back... the selection tool is kinda neat if you know how to use it correctly (though the eraser works just as well... just more tedious), but the idea is to delete parts of the top layer so the bottom layer shines through. The flowers were kinda hard though.

sweetdeal...that darned railing on the left really cuts into a great picture. I'd also would have liked it better had the window on the right not been cut off. Nice job with the PS'ing.
