Still a Nikon guy at heart though. Had Nikon had something even close to the quality the 20D has in the same price range I would have gone for it in a second.

So far we have two entries.
I like Lee's, but I think Kelly's needs something more, not much, mind you.
Just something that says or shows Nikon.

Experience is not a requirement to be a Nikon Samurai. Neither is longevity on this site. Love of your Nikon gear, THAT is what makes you a Nikon Samurai. And apparently, you qualify! Would you like to be Nikon Samurai #15?

Aha! I knew there was still good in you. :-) Somehow, I knew sensed that you were Nikon to the core. I've seen others go to Canon, for various reasons. Some think Canon is better technically. Some think Canon provides better tech support. Some like that the Canon gear is slightly cheaper than Nikon - at the consumer level. (Digital Rebel = $899, D70 = $999).

Top of the line Canon glass is definitely cheaper than Nikon. Canon 600mm f4 = $7200, Nikon 600mm f4 = $9000. Quite a difference. Then again, some think the Nikon glass is worth it. I don't claim to know. I do not, and in all probability, will not, ever buy a 600m f4 lens.

What I like best about Canon is that they make Nikon bring down their prices, and get serious with their new products. The D100 was $2000, until the 10D showed up, then it dropped to $1500. Nikon seemed content to have just the D100 as their consumer level camera, until the Digital Rebel showed up. But when Nikon responded with the D70, I was very impressed! The D70 was the first digital camera to truly impress me.

For me, it's about ergonomics. I love the way my Nikons feel in my hands. The controls are so logical in their placement and function. Shooting with a Nikon is so intuitive and so natural, that it makes shooting with one a piece of cake. I can concentrate on composition, and exposure, and not where is that blasted control is that I'm looking for.

Didn't mean to write an epistle, but it's nice to know that you do appreciate Nikon's like the Samurai's do!

You know, mine was just a suggestion that I hoped someone would take and run with. But I fiddled around in Illustrator just now and came up with a better idea of what I mean, except I don't know where to get a samurai image.

Re: Here's one designed to fit perfectly to the sig. ;)

I was hoping for one that was a little more... animated? Like a picture of a samurai with a sword and a camera round his neck or something. Damn, if I could draw I would bust it out here but I don't think my first grade stick figures would do my imagination any good!

I'd vote for this one though if everyone else agrees.

    Re: This Works For Me!

Hey guys! I appreciate it BUT there's a major problem I think - the image I manipulated was NOT MINE! I googled it then went to town. It's not far enough from the original to warrant being my own either. I guess we'll have to wait for one of the Nikon Samurais to take a picture like this so we can manipulate it!

    Thanks!

I remember you! You posted some great landscape shots, and an eagle shot or two.

You are officially Nikon Samurai #15.

Welcome Samurai! The list will be updated at the Nikon Samurai Headquarters.

You also have a distinguished lineage! Manual, autofocus and digital Nikons. Impressive! I started with a N80, bought a K1000 for astrophotography work (couldn't afford a manual Nikon at the time), and recently bought a used F5. And I still see a D70 in my future...

    Welcome back to the forum!

Hey I'm for this one if the majority is.

Maybe you should do a poll for this Rick. Or we have an open vote right here.

I am curious how it would look with the Samurai symbol (in red maybe - see Kelly's post) overlaid on top of this logo. Then again, it may make it took cluttered and too busy and detract from it, but if someone with levels experience would like to give it a try, I'd love to see it. Otherwise, I say we go with this!

Thanks sensei speed for the number. I will endeavour to spread the nikon gospel throughout these lands.

As for the nickname, it comes from work, where we spend a lot of time playing counter strike (war game) on the network and having just started this line of work i found myself a nickname which, as you say, reflects me a little: very scatty, and many faceted!!!

Right now, I'm all for Rick's also. You can check the Miami trip posting from PJ for a sample of the shirts. The one I'm wearing has been washed many, many, many times since August when school started. They were $12.50 each with a 36 shirt order. 100% pre-shrunk cotton with sizes small through XL. XX and XXL are available for an extra $2.00 per shirt. We should think about the PhotographyReview.com logo on the sleve if its cool with PJ.
