Talking Number 800, AKA, The View From The Top

Of Cape Lookout Lighthouse that is! This is one of the shots I took on the 7th. Shot looking south toward Cape Point, the end of South Core Banks.

    N80, Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 @ 28mm, f16, and Reala.

Next two shots are of the Lighthouse Keeper's Quarters. I think the first one was taken at 70mm. The second one was taken at 28mm. You may notice the bottom of the Lighthouse in the bottom of the frame in that one.

Last one is the lighthouse shadow. Again, I caught the base of the lighthouse in the bottom of the frame. And yes, I did frame it that way on purpose.

I like that you framed it that way. ;)

In fact, as I study it, the trees and the ground play a huge part in the story you're trying to tell! Amazing the way I'm able to see it.

I think I should turn away from this shot now.

Thank you for sharing these with us.

Watching some of the people that went up before me. They hugged the wall and wouldn't get anywhere near the rail. I hung over the rail to take some of my photo's. :-)
I LOVE getting up high for shots like this.

Did I mention that I started my time in the Air Force in pilot training? I've got over 106 hours in twin engine jets. I looped, rolled, and spun jets around the sky, and loved every minute of it!

Glad you liked the shots, and I now know not to stand by you on a penthouse window ledge. ;-)

I'm glad you liked the framing. I throughly enjoyed my time up there. My only complaint was that it was too short. They open the lighthouse about four times a year, and then it's by reservation only, limited to 200 people. I was lucky to get in, and I'll gladly go back anytime I get the chance.

I tried making a panorama from some of the shots I took, but it didn't turn out well. Shooting at 28mm does funny things to an image when you start merging them together! If I get the chance to go again, I'm shooting more shots for the panorama, and I'm shooting them with a 50mm next time. It was a learning experience, and I'm still learning!

    Thanks for the comments.
