Always a favourite spot for me, not as complete or big as say it's sister plant, Government Spiders, four hours west, but still a good time, without having too much extra worry. Known to some as Baby Spiders or Concrete Jungle, I prefer to call it by the name it was given two years back at MAMU IV...Government Tractors.

Two years ago when I first visited this hulk of a power station, one of many that was begun but never completed. It now lurks over an industrial park. The only parts working is the switching yard, but even that can go days without a single visitor.

So how did I come up with the name Government Tractors? Well, the sister plant is known as Government Spiders, and when I was there two years back we found a cache of farm equipment that is stored there by the property's owner, so I jokingly, suggested it be renamed to Government Tractors. It stuck.

Shooting 4x5 in an abandoned space is unique. Usually if I'm in a large group I leave the large format at home, as it is a bit of a process to shoot, setup, focus, meter, set, close shutter, load film, shoot, and then repeat. So I usually do this with smaller groups or if I'm out on my own.

But there's an interesting satisfaction with each shutter click, knowing that you've created something magic and when you take it out of the tank, or box, after processing, you'll have an image that is unparalleled.
