Not bad for a rookie, eh?

I had been thinking about contacting the weekly newspaper here about doing photography for them. Sebastian inspired me to get going on this, and finally I got to talk to the right people and find out what they wanted, etc. I submitted seven shots to them and they took four - one for the front page! Actually, their reproduction quality is much better than the Gannett-owned daily.

The former President's death is a huge story, of course - and his boyhood home is about fourty miles from here. I went there Sunday - and wasn't the only one. About a half a dozen satellite broadcast trucks and several other PJ's were there too. It was a pretty somber occasion - even at his age there were a few people who knew him personally from when he lived here. The other three are from the band "The Romantics" (What I Like About You). Got pretty good access to the stage, shot those with the 50 and 85 primes.

So here they are - and yes, I do have a real name...

This is great, congrats. Local press can lead to so many opportunities. The fact you made it happened is great.

Thanks, everybody! I just talked to the editor at the paper and he said that a lot of people at the paper liked the shots too. This is pretty new for both of us - they don't run a lot of images - but we're going to do what we're doing and see where it goes. Good publicity for me - not every day that I get my shots printed 10,000 (?) or so times and get them in a lot of people's hands!

    Once again, congrats.

Hopefully this will work out for you.
