    No Camera - No Photo

Still don't have my camera back .................... wah, sniff, sniff. Called Friday and they had to order a part. No experience with this local shop - I hope I don't regret this...

Ouch, I feel your pain. I was without a camera for a couple of months. I almost went crazy. Hang in there; I’m sure those bent pins will take no time to repair.

Thanks, LightBright. I'm hoping when I get it back the picture quality has improved -- wink, wink. (I'm learning...)

I have one for the project thread when I get it back -- this will also be practice for the studio lighting. How did your project go?

Um......correct. You and daq7 and nicci, etc. are making noticeable improvement -- I've got to step it up!

I haven't seen W.Slayman around lately -- I hope he's okay, and hasn't had complications develop as a result of his accident.

Do you have a scanner? I have made images using just a flatbed scanner in the past. Could be a fun way to be creative while your gear is in the shop.

I haven't had just a single camera body since the mid 70's when I bought a Nikkormat as a backup to the Nikon F. I always had a backup of some kind. Even when I first went to Nikon digital I kept a P&S as a backup before I got my second digital body. I just didn't want to ever be with out some way to snap an image.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Re: No Camera - No Photo

I was going to suggest a little back up camera for you too. It's actually a freeing experience; drop all the other rules you've been worrying about when you use the big camera and just shoot for composition and fun. I love to take my little camera out to test drive spots I'm interested in. Then I come back with the big camera and my ideas are ready to go.

And don't feel bad about the shop time. I've personally never broken a camera to the point where they would only keep it a week or so. Mine always have to get busted so badly it's 6-8 weeks and a return trip to the factory. [touch wood.] Just saying.

Count your blessings, bide your time, play with the little camera, be happy. N'es pas?

Think of your scanner as what it is a big digital camera that lies flat. You put interesting objects on the scanner bed, even your face if you like, and hit the scan button. It's like playing with the copier at work, or with objects on photo paper.

P.S. You may have to adjust the settings on the scanner to slides or transparencey to get anything usable with the lid up, depends on your scanner I think.

Like CL said, but some interesting objects on the scanner and see what you get. Here is a leaf I did last fall.

Sorry to hear about your down time on this deal with the repair,
Cindy is right, bring out the p&s and get to it. I think you will find yourself quite surprised at some results from the little gear.

Yeah that really sucks. Get a cheap point and shoot and keep going.
