    Smile New User, New Camera

Hello all. My name is David, and I found your forums through Google (first result). Thought I would join up, so I could learn more.

I just got a Canon Rebel XT digital camera. It is my first camera that is not of the point and shoot variety. I have really enjoyed playing with, and am getting used to seeing my world through the view finder. My camera was the kit that came with a lens (marked as EF-S 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 Len, but that currently means nothing to me).

Anyway, just wanted to make the inaugural post, and introduce myself.

    Re: New User, New Camera

    Thanks for the welcomes!

Got my camera last Thursday (the 21st), was an amazing b-day present from the Mrs. Still playing with it, and getting used to having something with an actual lens on it.

I think I have a photobucket account, when I get a moment I'll post up some pics and link them. My current photo subjects have been my wife and our cat, so they may be a bit dull. Have a vaca coming up in May, so the intention is to learn what I want to do, and any accessories I need/want prior (and looking at lens prices on amazon, apparently save up too).

Ahhh photography. As addictive as crack, and twice as expensive.

    Welcome.

    Re: New User, New Camera

Thanks for the welcomes, and yes greghalliday, I would agree after seeing some lens prices and getting to play with my camera.

Here's a couple shots I've taken (like I said, limited photo subjects for the time being)

Here's a shot of my wife's eye (had the camera for a couple days and was beginning to aggravate her I believe).

Then I set it to full screen and cropped down to see my reflection in her eye, thought was cool.

And the other is my pet. Little blurry, but I had the flash off to because it washed out otherwise (and made him squint). He was in my lap so it was a bit close.

David, welcome to the forum. I have been here awhile now and find that it is a very friendly place with lots of knowledgeable and experienced people who seem to able to answer any question I post regardless of how strange it is and ocasionally I can offer my 0.02¢. The XT was my first digital SLR and it really taught me a lot. Have fun with yours and let us see some of your images from time to time.

    Cheers,

    WesternGuy

Yea, the funny thing is he seems to love the home "paparazzi".

Thanks for the welcomes all! Will do some searching on the forums for questions and either dig up old threads if I have more questions or post new ones. Walking into an existing forum like this is always fun as there is always so much information out there to search through and read and learn from. Time to start learning!
