    New Toys

Well I got some new toys last week. Finally picked up the Manfrotto 234RC pan/tilt head for my monopod. I have been using my ball head for both the tripod and monopod but a few times I forgot to switch it and was stuck with a non-adjustable monopod.

I also picked up a new bag, Tenba Messenger. So far I only took it out a few times but it is great. I can fit my XTi with 100-400 lens attached. Plenty of pockets and the pad on the shoulder strap is very nice and comfortable.

Now if I can only decide on which lens to get I should be fine.

Congrats on the new "toys", James!

I love the messenger bag - great for travel. What color did you get? I got the traditional black. There are so many pockets on this thing that I forget where I put stuff.

For air travel, it fits perfectly underneath the seats.

    Thanks Loupey,

I decided on the olive green, I wanted something other then black and this bag gave me that option with the 7 colors to choose from. Plus I didn't even know about it til I walked into Calumet Photo and seen it and noticed that it would fit the 100-400 attached with room to spare. I still have to get use to all the pocket locations and, like you, try to remember where I put things.

I am using it as my walk around bag since the only other bag I have is the Lowepro Vertex 300 backpack. Much to big for everyday use but great to hold everything and for trips, it also fits under the seats.

    Cool!

In addition to housing a long lens with the camera attached, it can still hold two other fairly long lenses (like a 70-200mm and a 180mm) and a laptop - and still remain fairly slim. But I still prefer my Tamrac Velocity 5X for street shooting. You may have to buy that one too

Yea I know what you mean about the other lenses, at the moment I'm debating between the 24-105 and 24-70. That lens would be attached to the camera but I will still take the 100-400 and my 50 when I go out shooting, so this bag is perfect for now.... that's what I told my gf but I don't think she believes me anyway.

Does she realize that the search for new equipment is never over?

I thought I had the perfect set-up a couple of times in the past. None of those pieces and parts are in my possession Well OK, I might have kept a couple pieces but they are for sentimental purposes only now.
