One great thing about 1.5x or 1.6x DSLR's is having a 50mm lens gives you the angle of view of about a 75mm lens (not the same thing, as we all know). Nice thing about this is that a 50 f1.4 or f1.8 is a very inexpensive lens compared to an 85 of the same aperture, they're tiny and light, and extremely sharp. I didn't use my 50 too often on my film SLR's but it gets a pretty good amount of use with the DSLR. The angle of view of a 50 on a film camera (or full frame DSLR for that matter) didn't do much for me in most cases but an 85 prime was really nice to use. With the DSLR, the 85 felt too long so I sold it recently.
Good luck with the wedding!
