New Camera, Canon EOS Digital Rebel....

IFinally committed myself and purchased a new SLR camera, a Canon EOS Digital Rebel yesterday. I am very excited about this camera and love it so far. I have a few questions for anyone who may have more experience with this camera, how do you shoot Black and White or do you do that in Photoshop? Also how do you convert an image in Photoshop to black and white?

Thanks for the help. Here are a few images I took yesterday, nothing special but I just wanted to post a few of my new pictures.

    Thanks again

It must be done in photoshop.

I personally use the channels mixer and set it to monochrome and play with that quite a bit, followed by levels and then brightness and contrast. Using adjustment layers, of course, never actually changing the image.

    digital black and white

Asylum Steve posted a really great thread about converting to b&w a little while ago.

A better bw conversion in photoshop (for Liz and others)...

    another one...

Tutorial: Using the Channel Mixer for B&W Conversion

If the links don't work, go to the digital imaging forum and do a search for b&w

    hope that helps

    Cool Congratulations!

Great choice (I'm the proud owner of the same camera). You will love this camera - I've had mine for about 6 months and still get that same "right out of the box" thrill when I use it. There is a big learning curve, so take your time.....and keep shooting and posting here. Come back with any questions.

Your images are good for the first try. I like the 3rd one - interesting composition, good color, sharp.

    Liz
