    Naming help, please...

Taking these to the local club competition tonight and my naming usually is something like 'Bird #2". Anyone have any good ideas for these? I apologize for repeat postings of these, but I need names. - TIA, TF

I'm not good at this, but I'll give the first one a shot. It's such a beautiful image that I'll try a few titles more on the poetic side.....

    "Awakening"

    "Sweet Solitude"

    "Simplicity"

Not sure this is what you're looking for. I hope others can help out!

If you're not going for serious, this just popped into my head for last one--

    "Who you callin' a lady?"

These are wonderful - thank you. You can tell I'm an engineer - both in past career and in thought - when all I can come up with is Trout Lily, Trout Lily BW and Bug in Moss. - TF

Serious or not - I'm not picky. That sounds good though I may shorten it (longer titles don't fit well) to something like, "Lady!....Me?" Thanks, TF

What kind of engineer were you? I'm a software engineer (though being comp. sci major, I'm not sure how accurate that is when I'm surrounded by a ton of CE and EE folks ).

Chemical. As the head of the dept at IIT once put it, "Not enough chemstry to be a chemist or enough engineering to be an engineer." I didn't get my degree until I was 40. - TF

    Re: Naming help, please...

Odd this thread appearing now. Yesterday I was helping to sort/label all the prints for our club's annual exhibition (218 of them). There was quite the discussion on naming. The older guy present thought that prints should have a "neutral" title on the basis that the judge was meant to judge the image and not the title. I tended to the view that print titles should tease or amuse where appropriate. The most contentious issue, for us, was for natural history shots - the club rules explicitly state that these should have the name of the species and nothing else, leaving it untitled if the species is unknown. We are currently looking at this to see if it needs to be revised.

    Cheers

    Re: Naming help, please...

Thanks all for the suggestions. I went with:

    Awakening
    Simplicity
    Lady...Me?

Awakening got an honorable mention in the large (16x20) category and will be sent to the Chicago regional competition. As a beginner, I'm thrilled.

Congratulations! That's such great news and I must say, you deserve it. Everything about that image is perfect. Good luck with the Chicago regional competition. Keep us updated.
