    myspace PhotographyREVIEW.com profile

Last night I created a PhotographyREVIEW.com page on myspace: http://www.myspace.com/photographyreview

I want to use it to pormote the site to all the photographers who use myspace. But I don't want it to just be another spam page on myspace. So I was trying to think of things to do to make it useful, interesting, and relevant. I want people to actually be happy about adding it to their friends list and getting bulletins from it.

What I want to do is use the blog to highlight PhotographyREVIEW.com community content. At least once a week I'll post to the blog with the weekly Featured Photos, some new user reviews, interesting forum discussion, etc. It will be sort of like a mini newsletter on myspace. What do you think?

I've also been thinking about doing something similar on Flickr. Since Flickr is all photos, I was going to just upload all of our Featured Photos and create a PhotographyREVIEW.com Featured Photo gallery there. I'd use it to give our best photographers more exposure, as well as attract new photographers to PhotographyREVIEW.com.

What do you guys think of these ideas? Flickr and myspace both represent huge numbers of photographers that we aren't necessarily reaching. Would any of you mind if I posted one of your photos on Flickr, if I made sure the photographer gets the correct credit? That's my only real concern. I don't want to take liberties with anyone's photos.

    Thanks!

I don't know much about myspace, but I think Flickr is a good idea. Most of my photos are already there, because that's how I show them to friends and family.

I know of lot of people who take a lot of pictures and use Flickr all the time, but they don't call themselves photographers. This might be a good way to get people like them interested.

It sounds like a good idea to me. I have noticed a few new members coming on board around the critique forums. It's nice to see them coming in.

Sounds good, except one thing, and it doesn't bother me, but since Mods are not allowed POTW then that would eliminate some great work, which may bother some of the mods.

Not sure what to say about that. I'm excluded too, if that makes anyone feel better. I do have my own myspace and Flickr accounts for sharing and promoting my own work, though.

Yeah - it is the worst site ever when it comes to errors. But you can't deny the power.

I am no fan of myspace, but if it brings more to this site then I am all for it. The flikr thing however, is something that I really dig. Partially because I like the idea of the added exposure for this site and its member, and because I had a featured photo, so I would be included

Well, I gave in and finally made a myspce page, but only so I could add PR to it. Don't expect great things from me in the way of myspace.
