Since Rick posted his latest woodworking project, I thought I would share mine.

I've made several of those. The one on the cherry tree, besides the Squirrels a Blue Jay gets in to eat. We also have one on the side of the house and homeless person will empty it to eat.........

Leave a note inside for the homeless people to hit a shelter, food bank, the red cross, learn to pan handle, get a job or even get our fine government to feed them ;) Seed isn't cheap !

Then again, tell them you'll give them a meal if they clean up the yard too ;)

Very funny! I see your project has a guest!

Is that your design? Very clever. Do the birds crawl into the jar as well?

Nope, not my design. I found the plans on the Birds and Blooms site while looking for something else and thought it would be pretty easy to make. I put the link below if anyone is interesed. I went to a local bar and got 2-1gal jars for my favorite price-free. Then to the lumber yard for a 12' piece of cedar-$9.40. That was enuf for two feeders. A buddy of mine is a cabinet maker, carpenter and has a nice shop with lots of nice tools so he helped me out. His turned out a lot nicer than mine.

That first shot is just great!

Now I know how they get them sailboats in bottles. They just put a little sailor food in there.

    Cheers,

Ha, most people are looking for a squirrel proof bird feeder not a bird proof squirrel feeder.
