Thumbs up My Wife Told Me To Post This...

Because she thought it was cute. This is Buddy, the most recent addtion to Dawn's Zoo. And even she refers to it as her zoo! The rule around our house is that one animal has to go before another can be added. So our daughter donated her beta fish to the sixth grade as their class pet. And we got Buddy.

He was chowing down on some parsley this morning, so I got out the Coolpix 3500 and took a few shots. Resized for the web, otherwise, as is out of the camera.

    My zoo consists of...

A dog, a cat, a rat and a bearded dragon. We used to have numerous other animals, but over the years we've managed to whittle it down to just 4 animals.

Buddy is a cute little bugger Speed. I think you should invite Liz and her kitten over for a play date!

Enjoy the rest of the day!

Sounds like a zoo to me! The lady at the pet store said that rats make great pets - if you can get past the whole rat thing. Dawn decided she couldn't get past the rat thing.

Buddy is a Teddy Bear Hamster. Dawn had planned on buying a Black Bear Hamster, but after playing with all of them, decided Buddy had the best temperment. He doesn't mind being held, is very outgoing (more than any hamster I've ever seen), and he even fell asleep on me one evening! He is a trip. I'll try to get some more shots to show just how little he is.

I think we'll pass on having the kitten over. The ferrets might enjoy it, but the dogs would go nuts!

    Have a great day samurai!

Indeed. You definitely got her attention. Now I'm curious how she can have the startled ear look, and yet she looks bored at the same time? Only a cat could manage that. :-)

Now I need to get some shots of buddy showing how tiny he is. He is a really small thing, which just adds to his cuteness.

Thanks for the comments Liz. Hope you have a great day.

bearded dragons are cool.... is it a generic one or a cool color morph... starburst, red, blonde, .......

I was given one once that had a burn on his belly from a heat rock..... wanted to keep it, but gave it to a vet who could care for it better. i'm sure if not alive it died of old age!!!!

Buddy is definitely a cutie! Looks like he's well fed also!

After reading all the posts here, I guess three dogs aren't bad. I guess Collette and I could be considered dog snobs. All we want are dogs, no cats, reptiles, bugs or varmints.

Ocelot's are cool. But what is a kinkajou? Never heard of one of those.

I believe the line was: "Snakes. Why does it have to be snakes?" Minor point.

Snakes don't bother me in general, but I've never wanted one for a pet!

Not hardly! Why would you be considered snobs? Because you have good taste?

I agree with you on the no cats thing. The iguana is kind of cool, and while hamsters were considered varmints in Germany, I've only heard about them as pets in my lifetime. Bugs? Who would want a bug? Except to feed to your snake or lizard. :-p

well i made 20k a year after cost breeding them

pitbulls were rescues, as was the retic, gaboon, 2 burmese

the rest i got as trades for babies mostly

btw... stray cats made good food too..... hahaha

I'm a dog lover to no end!

i like mostly mastiff rare breeds, but ....

pugs, cavalier king charles, clumber spaniel, rednosed pits, black and white newfoundlands, griffons(all) JD johnson type american bulldogs(not the pit mix pawned off as ABD), swiss mtn dog, and maybe a huge german/dutch bred rottie male(140+) bovier de flandes are cool too

i'll post you a pug shot when i'm awake enough to get that rugrat to pose for me
