My first paid wedding

And I had a blast! A little background though. A friend and I were out taking photos of Christmas lights and we met some other friends out there. They saw my friend with a nice camera, and later asked him to shoot their sisters wedding in a month or two. Well he said yes, then realized the mistake he made by saying yes. Then he got the bright idea to ask me to help him out.

Well that turned out to be me shooting the entire thing, with him assisting me. I definitely don't plan on going out on my own, I've got waaay to much to learn. I do plan on assisting established pros to learn more of the ropes and expand my wedding photography knowledge.

It was an LDS wedding, so no ceremony pics. These are also the proofs, so I haven't edited out random arms/legs or other small stuff like that

8. This was during the "Knife Dance". The groom won't get the knife to cut the cake until the person with the knife decides he's paid enough for it. The groom ended up just giving the girl (his sister) his debit card, then he got the knife.

Looks to me like you pretty much nailed it. I like the variety of your captures, as well as the photojournalist style that Sebastian here does so well.

I guess the only question is whether the clients also wanted that, or prefer a more traditional depiction of their day...

Very nice group of wedding shots. Really like number 7 of the bride dancing. Nice way to capture the moment with a touch of motion blur. Really like the angle on it too.

I'm not saying it is wrong (far from it) but I notice that everything you posted is portrait format-many of them with lots of space at the top. I expect you tried to mix up your shooting with some landscape formats and plenty of close-ups and these are the ones that turned out the best.

BTW I would imagine that if these are a fair example of what you got that the couple and family are very happy with the results.

Yea, I just posted my favorites from the event. These are just the proofs, normally I crop to a 8x10 ratio, so I shoot with a little wiggle room on the top/sides depending on orientation. And yes, I did do some horizontal shots as well.

The entire gallery for anyone interested is here. DISCLAIMER: The images starting with "DSC" were not shot by me, but my by friend. We put them all in the same gallery (which needs to be sorted) to make it easy for the B&G to choose.

What a great start for you Jorge, I don't know how much you got pay but I know when my first wedding pay is exactly $35 buck. Yes, it is but I like it now than 3 and years ago. I like your photo alot, the more you shoot the better you get.
