    My Christmas Vacation (image heavy)

So we decided to take out Christmas vacation after Christmas. Train fares were cheaper, and it was just a nice time to go.

My little family left San Jose on Jan 8th heading to Salt Lake City, and came home on the 19th. I'll probably do two posts and split the images between them. I had too many to choose from! I picked up the Sigma 30mm 1.4 lens (which is getting sent back to fix backfocus) but I absolutely love this lens. I find I am picking it up and using it the most.

We started off with my friend driving us to Emeryville to the train station. We took the bus last year and we will never do that again. I headed out to the tracks a little before our train arrived so I could get the arrival.

One main reason we wanted to take the train is our son hates being restrained. Up til Sacramento we had the entire bottom of the train car to ourselves

At Reno we had the chance to get out and get a little fresh air.

The day after we arrived in UT, my parents took us to a camera store called Pictureline and told me for Christmas they'd give me some $$ to get some new gear. Now I've got myself a belt system for my gear when I'm out shooting. New gear of course meant time to go shooting. We headed up towards Snowbird Ski Resort and had a chance for my little guy to meet snow for the first time.

My mom got the Canon XSI (traitor!!!!) so my dad and I showed her some tips.

After Snowbird we headed back home and met up with my sisters family to play in the snow a little more.

I still love my 70-200 VR

    A couple other random images

My parents got 2 new kitties for Christmas. One of the cats they had had to be put to sleep on Christmas eve. The new kitties are brother and sister.

The first Sunday we were there our little guy decided to catch the stomach flu that was going around.

A random image from an exploring trip we went on

We had some fog in the morning, which left everything nice and icy.

We also took a trip to Temple Square

We then went to the LDS Church History Museum. I can tell already how our son feels about museums. And this is a kid who hates strollers.

A few random images from around the house and some scenery

My sister also got a new camera for Christmas

This is the same train we took out to UT on its way back to Emeryville from Chicago. This was taken around 9am. The problem is that this train was supposed to be in Salt Lake City at 11pm the night before.

My bro in law wiping his sons nose while mine is screaming his head off. The night we left we had a huge Mario Kart Wii competition, which I humbly mention I won.

Grandma, my nephew, wife & son

My sister and mom drove us to the train station to catch our 11pm train

Once I saw the benches I knew a self portrait was in order.

And last but not least, our little goofball doing what he does best (besides crying). Making us laugh.

I have a bunch more images on the blog. I've got probably 18 images or so per post on there.

Scott, those photos are amazing. It looks like you and your family really had a great trip, and you definitely more than documented it with such beautiful shots.

Great series of pictures Scott. Hope you like the new belt system. My Mom got me that last year for Christmas and I've used it extensively shooting sports. Much more convenient for me that a conventional bag.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

    What a enjoyable series Scott!

Your son is getting cuter and cuter. How is that possibly? You've got a beautiful family and it's so nice to see how you all enjoy each other.

    Thanks for sharing these.
