    Multnomah Falls, Oregon

Took the kids to Multnomah Falls this weekend... very crowded, license plates from all over the states, and Canada.
    Gorgeous day, weather was impeccable.

I like the shot throught the trees....not as dramatic but looks more natural without the people.

Very nice. I remember visiting there when I was a little kid and lived in Corvallis

I like the second photo best, too. Multnomah Falls is one of those places that's gotta be pretty hard to take an original photo of. But the second photo, looking through the trees, is very creative. I like it. Besides being a different view of the falls, it's got a nice, wispy, dreamy feel. I think it's a neat photo.

Thanks guys. It was very very crowded... I agree, hard to take an original photo there... but I did have fun shooting downwards from the bridge, and almost lost my lunch.
When I go back, I'll probably spend time at Wahkeena and the other smaller places.

I hope you drove the scenic highway as you miss allot of water falls and interesting places.
Here are a couple neighboring falls one just east of Multnomah Falls and one farther west from Multnomah Falls and I have to inculed the much shot Multnomah Falls.

There are many falls that can be walked to (less than a mile) and many more that are two to three miles up the trial. Yearly there are many searches for lost hikers, because they take a short cut and get lost or fall down a cliff.

yeah, Freygr... that thought crossed my mind... '"falling off a trail" so we stayed on the very crowded main trail, that is like a 5 mile loop. We got almost to the turnaround and the kids decided they were hungry, so we walked back
a half day simply doesnt do it justice.
    Love your two pics.

I was up there in May, but ended up getting more shots of the surrounding falls than of Multnomah Falls itself. The lighting was atrocious that day, just peeking over the top of the falls, and I didn't have the proper equipment for the conditions.

I'll post some shots when I get home, but I'm "stuck" in Honolulu for the next three weeks, and working from the laptop. Dang the bad luck anyway!!!

The Forest service has blocked of allot of access do to idiots getting hurt. When I was much younger there where picnic tables down around the creek, but some brat got suck between two boulders and it was closed off. Then a few years back a big boulder (yes big) came down of the face of the upper falls and got a wedding party all wet, and they closed up the upper pool also. I could go on a rant but this is not the place.

I hope you also took in the some of the other falls, My photo the one though the trees is Latourell Falls, and the other you have to get wet to get to Oneta Gouge Falls. (I hope I got the spelling correct)

Yes you have to take to photos any time but noon and even with it over cast you have problems.
