Today we had a dedication of a mural in the downtown section, so I brought my camera along to take some pictures for our chamber's newsletter.
#1 William "Ironhand" Swick, the local artist who did most of the mural work. I guess he's "part" native american but he sure didn't look much like the Morongo indians that live in the area.
#2 Jerome (didn't get his last name), supposedly from the group The Platters. Couldn't find any info on him on the internet, though. Great singer anyways. He performed at Patty O'Reily's Grill after the dedication.
#2 The Morongo Bird Singers perform the Bird Song. The Morongo tribe has their own reservation here in Banning, and from which the Morongo Casino gets it name.
#4 The actual ribbon cutting ceremony. Sorry I didn't get a full shot of the mural, but the lighting wasn't right for a panoramic. Will have to do that sometime early in the morning one day.
