    Modern Windmills

From the Windfarm. Note the scale of the pickup truck(s) and the tractor to the windmills and the cranes. Both the pickup in each photo and the tractor in the second are very close to the base to illustrate the size of these units.

    Images processed in Adobe Lightroom.

Unbelieveably large. The first time I saw ones like this was in SW Wisconsin - they looked like they were about a half mile away, but it turned out to be several.

    Re: Modern Windmills

There's a portion of this collection of about 125 windmills that can be seen from over twenty miles away without any difficulty. They sit atop a moraine (good for wind) and the surrounding country is generally flat enough that seeing them is not problem. The oddest thing is driving and seeing the warning beacons at night from a looonnng way off!

There are several shots I've planned for the completed fields and as the construction on the next set get underway, I'll undoubtedly be busy with some phase of that too!

We can see these from a few vantage points for 25+miles.

I've found my spots too shoot these when the fields are full of crops and just before harvest when everything should turn golden.
