Digital Imaging (Photoshopping) used to help with child molestation case.

Check the article which this site links to:
    http://slashdot.org/articles/05/02/0...tid=126&tid=95

Apparently, a child was molested and the police had the photos modified (removed the sexual acts) and then asked the public for help identifying the location where the photos were taken. Pretty smart thinking in my opinion.

Yeah, I saw these in the paper today. That's great!
The photos are kind of creepy as you can see where they've been edited. Ghost like images left behind. Leaves a bit too much to the imagination.
Very sad. Good thinking on the part of the police.

Odd that I stumble onto this thread as I watch Minority Report in the background and somehow ties together in my brain as technology helps us hopefully solve crimes. I hope they catch the individual or individuals responsible.

In their original forms, the pictures show the child being sexually assaulted
I can't fathom with my photoshop skills doing a task of that nature. I often digitaly manipulate pictures for clients and know there is a fair amount of close up work with a good amount of time triming out peices. I do not envy the job of who ever it is.

    THIS IS JUST WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why can't they leave the perp in the images, so those of us not VILE can try to ID him/her ;)

pretty cool that they did this none the less though

I like that they are being creative and clever in trying to catch someone who should not be free to walk this world. I say whatever it takes to get the guy without further harm to the victim Bravo

    Creepy.

Definitely very creepy. Poor kid. I hope they get the bastard.
As someone who regularly uses Photoshop for other projects, I don't think I could do what that artist did. I would be too upset by the original image to be able to work with it, even if it is making the record of the act disappear in order to get the abhorrent sleaze.
