    Major Photographic Anniverery

Today, in 1888, George Eastman received a patent for the first roll-film camera (emulsion on cellulose) and registered the name "Kodak." The beginning of an era that is now coming to an end. What a trip!

I am sure George would be very accepting of digital photography, it has made it even more accessible to "the people".
I disagree with you on your comment about film based photography coming to an end.
    Thanks George!

    Re: Major Photographic Anniverery

The film comment was a spur-of-the-moment jab to see what reaction I'd get! Film is now a niche but still going strong.

The article got me thinking. Kodak was always big in the "saving memories" business, encouraging everyone to take snapshots that they could look at later and remember the good times. Nowadays, so many photographers, and even more photo-wannabes with no real knowledge, dismiss "snapshots" as garbage. Too bad. As I get older, I have started thinking about capturing simple things, not artsy, not expertly crafted, just snapshots of those things and people around me that have signifigance.

    So much for philosophy!

I agree with you about the snapshots and most of my shooting is just that at family events.
However the technical and artsy-fartsy stuff has taught me to take better snapshots.
