    Re: The Mountain Bike Post

John, I was thinking of hitting Joshua Tree on my way home, but I suppose that's out of the way and not too good for riding, huh?

If anyone else is interested, Joushua Tree Sunday after our morning meeting?

J Tree is way out of the way for me, not to mention it's gonna be like 200 degrees out there. Anyway, there won't be any legal mountain biking since it's a National Park.

Take water! They don't have any in the park.

Re: Los Angeles Photogathering! August 19th

John, I know you like off-road biking but there is an excellent paved biking road that is just off the 210 freeway between Pasadena and Sunland. I think it is off the Tuna Cyn. Rd. exit as you are heading west toward the 5 and San Fernando Valley. Lots of bikers ride there, and you can get great views from the top. I've been told on clear days you can actually see the ocean from up there. So if you don't mind paved roads, great views, and good exercise, this might be a good place for a ride before you head home. And it won't be out of your way either.

    Hello Everybody...

Karen and I will be there on Saturday for 9 a.m. coffee. Brian, sorry we cannot make it down in time for Friday BBQ but thank you for the offer. We'll be on the 5.

As for the itenerary, are we shooting the theater district inside or on the outside of the buildings? We are currently doing research on the area and we're trying to get an ideal of how to shoot the area. There is also the Grand Central Market that we may shoot as well, it's close to the Broadway Theater district.

I am especially looking forward to the Union Station.

    See everybody soon,

Grand Central Market! I've been there and it's awesome. And it also happens to be right across the street from the Bradbury building which has been photographed many times and some of you might remember from the movie Blade Runner. Remember the iron railings and elevators?

I'll do the photo-exchange. I recommend that we bring one photo and then pick numbers to see who picks first, etc. One photo is bearable, but to print 12 photos would be prohibitive.

Re: Los Angeles Photogathering! August 19th

We had discussed each bringing a photo and I'd pick names from a hat to see who trades with whom (to be posted here before hand), though picking numbers works as well and would actually be easier. I think we'll go with that idea. At least that way, most of us would have a choice of photos.

Also, If we are all having dinner at the restaurant Saturday night, I think that would be a good time to for the exchange, though if many choose not to sup with the group, we could do it earlier.

While on the topic of dinner, is everyone planning to bring a change of clothes? The restaurant looked like a pretty nice place and I'm assuming they would appreciate us being dressed appropriately...

    Is it Saturday yet?

    Friday Night BBQ

I still need to get an idea of who will be down for Friday night's BBQ.. So far, this is what I've got..

    Yes:
    Waltrick (chicken)
    Gene (undetermined)
    Penny (undetermined)
    Me (gets whatever I cook)

    No:
    Loren
    Schrackman

If the rest of the group could let me know one way or the other, I'd appreciate it. I'll need the RSVP by 8/16/06.

Also, for those planning on attending, please let me know if you want chicken or steak so I can purchase the grub.

Anyone needing directions to my place, follow the included link and then click "get directions" and put your address into the first box and click the "directions" button. That should get you to my front door.

Re: Los Angeles Photogathering this weekend!

Hi, I called the restaurant just to confirm that they didn't have a dress code and they don't. They do recommend nice casual which would be nice jeans, khaki's, nice polo or button down shirts. They prefer no t-shirts or shorts. Sneakers okay.

I will probably have a change of clothes since we'll be running around all day, and well, I like to dress up just a little ;-)

It will be a great time!

As for the clothes...I am bringing a change of clothes. Nothing fancy, but something comfortable.

I think the photo exchange should be done at the afternoon coffee so people can show up for dinner with having to worry about the photos being damaged.

Thanks for the good directions. We'll be leaving from the Valley around 5:30 p.m. and get to Laguna Niguel as soon as traffic permits.

Looking forward to seeing you again and THANK YOU for hosting the BBQ. We will bring some dessert, does chocolate cake and chocolate pie sound okay?

    Best Regards,
    Gene
    Hi Gene,

It's my pleasure. I feel kinda bad that we haven't gotten together sooner, but I'm glad we can now. Too bad Ray and Claudia won't be able to join us.

I plan on cooking both steak and chicken so no worries. I, like you, prefer steak so it won't be any trouble cooking an extra. Chocolate whatever sounds great for dessert. I appreciate y'all bringing it.

We'll see you and Penny Friday night!

Since we are not doing a formal tour, we will not be entering the theaters but even if we could, we are not allowed to shoot inside. In general, our shooting will be outside.

For those of you interested in biking, the Santa Monica Mountain range is bike friendly and has multiple points of entry. PM me if you need directions.

I should have the agenda done late tonight.

    Karen,

Incase your hubby hasn't yet taught you the number one rule of photogatherings, allow me to be the first:

The majority of pictures taken will be of others taking pictures of others taking pictures.
