Talking Look What I Got Today!!!

    Hehehe!

    :-)

I'm a happy man. Now I can shoot large Jpeg's. Now I don't have to worry about my memory card running out of space. I may even shoot some RAW files!

Did I mention that I'm a happy man?!

Sorry about the poor image, but I just took a quick shot to share.

Congrats man. You're inching closer and closer to that 20D. Yes, 20D.

Is Lexar better than SanDisk? My dad says it's faster, but that it's hard to find that information. Is there a difference?

I bought the SanDisk over the Lear based on reviews that stated that the SanDisk was faster. It was geeky stuff with the specs of the result. However, I think the difference is negligable for most of us!

Unless your camera can take advantage of the WA of the Lexar, either the Lexar or Sandisk Ultra II would be a good choice. I am awaiting my new 1G Sandisk Ultra II from B&H hopefully this week sometime. It was $175.95US plus postage which was $7.50US average out with 3 other items ($30US all up postage which I was amazed at).

I have a Lexar 256Meg 40X WA flash card, and find it the same as a generic 256meg card I have overall. There might be a difference with the transfer over USB 2 to hard drive though with the Lexar card.

Woohoo! I love my 512. I can get about 150 images on my Rebel... (uncompressed JPGs). I have the SanDisk Ultra or whatever, the fast writer.

    I lust after the gig.

Unless somebody finds a way to cram a CMOS sensor into a Nikon body with Nikon ergonomics, sell it for $1,000 and call it a D20, I doubt Speed will be buying it. ;)

Robert, congrats on the card, but once you buy the D70, yes, the D70, you will indeed need alot more of those.

Yes, Brian definitely gets it! I'm Nikon all the way!

Yes, it's called the D70. And I'm sure it's just a matter of time before I get one. When that day arrives, I also intend to buy a 1 gig Lexar to go into that CF slot. I can use the 512 as a backup. ;-)

    You got a GREAT deal!

I am tickled to have more memory. We went to Shackleford Banks on Saturday and I shot 115 Large, Fine Jpegs, plus another 10 before we went, and still had room for 117 more! I am a very happy man!

Everything I've heard and read says that Lexar is about as close to an industry standard as there is. Everything I've heard says that Lexar cards are the fastest. And what I've also heard is that San Disk makes tough memory cards, and are doing their best to give Lexar a run for their money. Who knows, the Lexar vs SanDisk issue may become as big as Nikon vs. Canon. Go with what makes you happy.

Is one better than the other? I don't know. I opted for Lexar and I'm VERY HAPPY with it.

well twice ;) nah..... a few "people shoots" , full frame birds at 4 feet with tubes, flower junk, insects, SUN BATHERS ;)

DUDE a F100 will do 99% of what an F5 will do....... WHY BUY A HUGE BODY for a 50mm lens ;)

if you "NEED" the F5's meter....... GIVE UP PHOTOGRAPHY and find a new HOBBY .

SURE a GREAT meter is good and all, but the F100 or even a N80 can meter QUITE WELL .

Only a 1gb card when you go digital?

That will never be enough, even with a 512mb backup, I'm guessing you'll wish you had more within weeks of going digital.

Speaking of going digital, when you finally cross over you'll wonder why you fought the change over for so long!

At least some of us aren't trying to get you to change brands! I've accepted that some of my friends are just a little bit off and are going to use Nikon no matter what.
