In June, 2008 a woman named Esmin Green collapsed and died in a N.Y. hospital after waiting for over 24 hours for care. She was left on the floor for quite some time before anyone bothered to acknowledge her. She might have been saved . . .The whole event was caught on a security camera and was watched by the entire world on media outlets and you-tube.
An artist friend of mine, Dawn Robyn Petrlik created a temporary installation dealing with the tragic event. It was on exhibit at the Brooklyn Waterfront Artist Coalition pier gallery and had drawn much attention from the press. Her work is always very good, and I was happy to be asked to cover the exhibit from start to finish.
It is a controversial piece that had drawn both support and anger . . .
I put together a slideshow of the photographic coverage.
