    Lightning pics

    Hey folks!

I haven't been active on the forums much at all but trust me that I'm still into photography! I shot one wedding this summer and constantly shoot different events and activities. This weekend will be my first attempt at an air show so hopefully I'll get some good pics to share with you, although I'm realizing that I'm in need of new lenses. Believe it or not I've been shooting on the same lenses for six years now! Definitely time for a change!

Just recently we had some thunderstorms pass over the Redding area and I decided to actually attempt some serious photos of lightning. I've never captured lightning before and I don't consider these all that great. In fact, I had to crop the original file just to get zoomed in on the lightning bolts that you see. At least I now know that it's not all that difficult to set the camera to capture lightning, but you do have to be pointing the camera in the right direction and open the shutter at the right time (and keep it open long enough) to get a really good shot.

Anyhow, here's just a few for you to look at. The last one reminds me of War of the Worlds. Lens used was the Sigma 28-80mm along with Canon's remote shutter trigger.

Love the lightning photos. I have done a few myself, I do however wish I was in a good area to take those kind of photos.

    Great photos!!

Lightning pics are always fun, and you're right...not too tough once you get the technique down and you burn enough film. I know this isn't c&c, but if you could remove those wires, and maybe apply some noise reduction that would help.

Feel free to edit my images for critique, just let me know what you did.

Very nice! I have been wanting to do this for a while now. Just haven't had the chance! I need to make an effort to go out next time there is a storm. (Possibly not for awhile now with winter comin..)
