Re: The last roll of Kodachrome

Kodachrome was an incredible film; razor sharp, accurate colors (if not a little mundane for some), great longevity. I still have about 5 rolls I'm shooting up and processing before the last lab stops developing it by the end of 2010.

One quirky thing about Kodachrome that's always puzzled me: the curved edge paper frames they use to hold the positive always makes it so you lose slide area when printing or scanning. I see no reason for it, other than it looks neat or different, so I guess it's a wonderful example of form over functionality.

Btw, I think I'll keep one roll of KR as a museum relic.

I did start a thread on this a about a week ago, but nobody commented. You can find it here.

Here is the link to the NPR story where I first heard about the last roll. There is audio you can listen too also.

I still have 1 roll or KR sitting here that I need to shoot up and I think I have an exposed roll in the freezer. Still trying to decide what I want to shoot with my last roll. I might wait for some fall colors.

The end is near! Or it is already here depending how you look at it.

Get those rolls developed, because when Dwayne's is gone, that is it!! This isn't a do it at home process.

When you do get your final KODACHROME work back,

share it here-> SHOW YOUR KODACHROME! in the film forum.
