    Last Hurrah

I made a quick one overnight trip up to Downieville this weekend. It looks like it may my last chance to ride in the Sierra this year. And boy was the trip worth the effort. The leaves were going off, the weather was cool, and it felt great to be back in the mountains.

    No Bikes

Here are a few ok photos without any bikes, cause I know you all think the bikes just get in the way of the scenery

Sure looks like winter's rolling in, doesn't it?

Wonderful images John. I'm sorry but yeah I do like those without the bikes. The three trees and the mountains with the red clouds above are just great. Thanks for sharing these with us.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

C'mon - you know they'd be so much better with a mountain biker doing a backflip right in the middle of the scenery. Or maybe a monster truck kicking up some huge dirt clods at some hippies

    Great shots!

I really like the last one. I actually thought on first glance that those red clouds were flames and the clouds were just smoke. Then I looked again and realized that it was just red clouds.

That last photo is maybe one of the most blessed photo moments I've ever experienced. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, that I actually had my camera on the tripod, waited for it to happen, etc., etc. It was magic. Hot damn!

Wow John! You outdid yourself. They're all great, but that last one is just awesome! I had to look closely - at first I thought it was a volcano. Awesome mountain....and the clouds, Wow!

These are great, John. How do you get such dynamic colors without appearing to oversaturate your image?

Just one little critique, if I may. I feel like the one with the three trees reflecting in the lake should have a tighter crop on the bottom.

Wow those are great shots. I'm so jealous. It's been a year and a half since I've visited the high sierra.

I like the 3 trees and the last one. Also thought it was fire at first glance.
I was in the mountains over the weekend with my sons but area I was in didn't have much color.

Beautiful nature shots even with the bikers.

Simply stunning PJ. I as well had to do a double take on the fire on the mountain photo.
