Thanks, Ray! For me, the ultimate is when I can make mtb photos that non-riders appreciate. I also really like photos that combine the sport and landscape. For me, those are the usually the most fulfilling.

I had four different chile shots but the others had a little camera shake, so this was the compromise. They were very nice-looking chiles. And they smelled really good.

I got your PM and will be following up later today.

    Alan's Arm

The woman is Alan's new best friend. He has a bad habit of falling off bikes. This time he did it at Whistler, at the beginning of a heli drop. Bummer. But he's got cool Canadian ti parts now!

That's good to hear, about the girlfriend part.
I get the feeling you aren't talking about ti bike parts though?

    Re: L.A. Photogathering pics

I just picked up 2 rolls of 120/220 from the photogathering. Looks like there's some funky fisheye shots in there! Hopefully I'll have time to scan them in tonight.

Oh dear, I was afraid of those fisheye shots! Although I am looking forward to seeing the one of us in the elevator at the Bradbury bldg.

Great! I look forward to it. In fact, the one you just posted of Montana would work just fine for my purposes.

LOL, there is one fisheye portrait of you in there Ray If I remember, the shutter was pretty slow so it's probably pretty blurry and not worth posting.

I know you were looking forward to seeing it

    Gathering Gallery Added!

I added a new gallery category for Gatherings and other community events. I uploaded a bunch of photos and hope you guys will do the same. I know some of you imbed images in your posts with html. You can use the gallery to do that now. You can also upload larger images, if you want, since the gallery has no size restrictions. Plus, it's just a good way to keep track of the images and include them in your member gallery. There's also a whole other community using the gallery. They don't necessarily use the forums and this will introduce them to the Gatherings and maybe get them to participate in future Gatherings.

Gathering and Community Events Gallery >>

    Thanks!

My arm happened about a month ago in Whistler at Crankworx, definitely a bummer but I'm taking it in stride, things could have been worse...

Sorry I still haven't posted anything. I am trying to do 4 weeks of work in two weeks so I can go to Burningman next week. My life is at 11.

Ahh... just spent a solid couple of hours scanning, tweaking, giving up, and laughing at some of these pictures Shooting people with a fisheye might be my new thing! I shot on Tmax 100, 400, and Velvia 50. Enjoy!

    1) How much do I love the look on Brian's face in this photo?
    2) Eric, posing for me (no fisheye here)
    3) We happened to see Hansen playing a concert in Holywood. Mmmbop!
    4) Hot dogs!

These are my favorite shots from the weekend. Photo-John is always a great subject. I really like these of him.

Our group shot was taken inside an elevator in the Bradbury building. I think they came out pretty well, thanks for playing along fellas

The front door of the church that held the quincinanera that Ray shot, and then some more from the Bradbury building. Last group shot turned out pretty cool. I was hoping for more of a silhouette but I like it with some detail on us dudes Just imagine that girl walking in the front door of the building and seeing this guys

From left to right, that's Brian, Ray, Eric, me, Loren, and PJ, all being weird because I told them to make funny silhouettes

Last bunch from the LA gathering for me.

    1) Boring shot of the market. Ray got a better one with the same idea.
    2) Eric posing again for us to catch the bus blowing by him.
    3) Manequin in downtown

Now, for the last of the Joshua Tree pics. Didn't really get anything I was too hot about. I do still have a roll with Josh Tree pictures on them in each of my cameras. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised by those.

    Re: L.A. Photogathering pics

It is amazing that a day that ended almost a week ago is getting better and better the more pictures get posted. Is that even possible?

I'm starting to think photographers are like magicians. We don't know how magicians do their illusions while it happens in front of you. I was around you guys and gals for over 12 hours then BAM!!! You people post these really cool shots (the shots are honestly more interesting than seeing the location with the naked eye). I'm like, "how'd you do that???"

    Thanks Rick.....very cool set

    Re: L.A. Photogathering pics

Wow! These wide angle shots are great, Rick! And I see you got the photo of Eric that I was trying to get (with the bus blur), but my settings weren't correct. I also really like the last image of the Joshua Tree. Hope you have more!

BTW, I forgot I took a few pics with my Canonet, but I still have 26 exposure to take on that roll, so I probably won't post any Canonet pictures till end of next week, that is if they come out alright.

Forgot to mention that's pretty interesting that Hansen was playing on Hollywood Blvd. I wonder if that what they've had to resort to so that people won't forget them now that they're not near as popular as they used to be? Kinda like how all the old famous names are now playing at fairgrounds?

LOL, thanks Ray. I enjoyed using the fisheye for a new perspective

And that wasn't Hansen, I was just joking about the fact that they looked like them They were both really good guitarists, knocking out everything from the Eagles to Carlos Santana.

I look forward to your Canonet shots! Don't worry, I probably won't get the two rolls out of cameras for a couple more weeks, either. Of course, our pictures are always well worth the wait

I love the group shot. That was a cool idea. And that last one of PJ is too funny. It looks like in the end of Beetlejuice where he's sitting next to the headshrinker, and gets his head shrunk.
