    Re: L.A. Photogathering pics

Back to the market for lunch, where I realized I no longer owned the largest camera. That's Loren's 6x7 on the left and my 645 on the right. Photo John gives approval in the background.

Outside the market, they were shooting a commercial for Sony PSP. Eric and I watched for a while. One guy asked what they were doing, I said he could probably get in the commercial if he wanted, so he walked up and asked and they put him in the scene The guy at the table is holding a fake PSP. I wonder if he ever got the girl.

On to Union/Grand Central Station, can't remember the name, where we took it easy and shot each other. I call the first one "Evil Santa" LOL

A couple of photo shoots were also taking place in the train station.

On to Hollyweird, where everything was very touristy, and very exciting. We started with coffee and then hit the boulevard. I found this Star Trek Barbie in a store window, along with a Michael Jackson doll. Sweet!

Hey, did anyone ever get me Super Girl's phone number?

Time for dinner. We got there a bit early so we hung out and took pictures of... each other.

I invinted a new photographic technique called "swirling." John will try to tell you he invinted it first. Don't believe him.

Dinner! Carlito's was small and charming, full of pretty people who drove shiney red cars. And that was just our group!

I played more with Photo-John's shutter drag technique. I named it "photogra-tourettes" and promptly gave a demonstration. Much to the amusement of my co-diners.

Okay, a few "normal" ones from dinner. Brian's yummy desert and a backlight water glass.

    Re: L.A. Photogathering pics

We got back to Brian's about midnight. I crashed.

The next morning, I took him out to breakfast to say thanks. We had an incredible mexican breakfast that made me realize once again how great the cuisine in California is. "Food" was definitely a great theme for this photogathering.

I bade farewell to Brian and took off up the PCH to Laguna Beach. The marine layer burned off just as I arrived. It made me realize how much I miss the beach and the Pacific Ocean.

I won't get too much into the rest of my trip, since this is the photogathering thread. I drove east to Joshua Tree and ended up spending the rest of the day there shooting. After sunset, the stars came out and the Milky Way became visible. Beautiful!

I'll post the shots from my film cameras when I get the rolls back in a few days.

Thanks to all for a wonderful vacation to SoCal. Thanks Eric, Brian, Loren & Karen, and PJ for all your contributions and help. Penny, Gene, & Ray, let's get started on that Arizona Before 2010 Gathering!

    A few from Joshua Tree:
