Just joined the 1D series users group lol

    Hey Everyone!

I was looking around to upgrade my old 30D to something different. I love buying new gear, regardless of if I actually need it or not.

I picked up a Canon 1D Mk II for a super good price! Comes with everything it came with new, plus an extra Canon battery.

Very excited! It will arrive on the 7th, and I leave for vacation on the 9th!

Any 1D users here? How do you like them?

I had the original 1D and loved it. It has been relegated to the antique shelf, though. The resolution and overall image quality couldn't match my XTi and 40D and even though the burst rate and auto focus performance ruled, I couldn't use it anymore. Battery life was pretty terrible, too. However, I am currently using a loaner EOS-1D Mark IV and it is awesome. If your a Canon shooter, there really is nothing else that compares to the speed and auto focus of a 1D body. The new 7D is very, very close, though. Anyway congratulations on your new camera. I hope it serves you well

I'm still using the original 1D!

I've been so busy working on a Master's degree and learning two new jobs the last couple years that I've not had enough time to seriously consider upgrading. The 1D series are great cameras. Super fast burst rate and focusing system! It will work best with very good glass. It really points out the shortcomings of a so-so lens!!!!

The original has a horrible battery life which I think improved tremendously with the MkII.

Sounds like you got a pretty good deal. I bet you'll love it!
