    It's Here...

Yay!! My Nikon N80 has arrived! I am so excited. What a sexy sound it makes!!!!!!
I haven't done film in 10 years! (ok, aside from my small olympus point and shoot, but the last 3 have been spent doing digital!)

I will post with pix soon!!!!!!

    Re: It's Here...

Wow - interesting! I'm curious why you're getting back into film when a lot of people are doing the opposite. I shoot both and think they both have benefits that you can't (well, at least I can't) replicate with the other. I've actually been shooting more film than digital lately for some of those reasons. Just curious what others are doing.

Please - let's not turn this into a film vs. digital thing...

Arent you sweet... stopping the debate before I go on another rage. ;)
Actually call me nostalgic, but I love film. I wont post my opinion on which is better. They all have their advantages/disadvantages. I just dont get the same WOW feeling with digital. (you know the feeling you got when you fell in love with photography?)
I found the N80 to be quite suitable for the small amount of photog work I do. I had a 3.2 mp digital and a small olympus 35mm point and shoot. I want to do more, learn more, and for me, film is a much better fit.

To each his (or her) own. Isn't it great to have choices? And new equipment? Hpe your new camera is a source of inspiration and encourages you to take and share lots more photos. We can talk all day long about what kind and brand of camera is better. But really, it's all about taking pictures. It doesn't matter what you use, as long as your pushing the shutter release.

So I'll be expecting to see some N80 photos from you on the gallery!

    PJ-
Thanks, it completely is. I've been playing with it empty all day getting a feel for it.
Thats is why I made the above comment... Im not going to say which is better, because its just my opinion. I just know which one I feel better using. Everyone is different
Using film over digital to me is just a personal preference... its more my personality, its more about being old fashioned I suppose. To me, digital and film each have their own unique strengths and weaknesses, and I don't boast over either.

    Dear Rebekah,

Welcome back to the land of the living! (sorry, I just had to) ;)

I know how you feel. Digital has its good points, I use it every once and a while. But then again, after processing your b&w and you open the tank, and you look at the negative, you get that warm glow of pride in being able to process your own work. The pride of dirty hands I suppose. Wonderful, I hope to see your work soon.

    I Have a Feeling...

you're going to love that camera. Since I got my D70, my N80 hasn't seen much use, but I've been getting an itch lately to put some B&W film in there and shoot away. Let me tell you, that is one great camera for it's price. That camera is what really inspired me to get into photography seriously. It is such a joy to handle, easy to get to know, and it is a great photographic learning tool. Have fun with it and looking foward to your pics.
    Regards,
    Brian

    Re: I Have a Feeling...

Congratulations! I think it's wonderful that you're doing what you love. I still love film, but don't have enough time to do both - and I just ordered a new XT so I better stick with that!

I wondered if you're interested in some film. I have some Supra 400 and 800 left over. They don't have the dates on them, but they have been refrigerated - and hey, they're free! I also have some Ilford Delta 400 and maybe 100 - they are dated April 2005 which is probably about what the Supra would be too. I've been holding off on giving the film away because I keep thinking I'll use my Rebel 2K. However, why waste good film - I know I won't use it.

If you want it, pm me with your address and/or email address. If you don't want it - I won't be offended!

    Enjoy!

    OK - sent the email.

I'll be out for a while - back later. Have a great weekend. Glad my film will be put to good use - that great Supra - always my favorite color. And Ilford - Charles Hess got me addicted to that!

    Penny-
Thank you for your encouragement! It means a lot... I love popping online to see your latest and greatest! You and Gene are such great fun on the board.
I hope I dont have to wait long either. I blew through a couple rolls this morning as test shots. Dropped em off at the lab to get my negs and a cd (until I get my neg scanner!) So maybe later today?
Im feeling pretty unlucky though--- I just burned my trigger finger!!!!!!
(on the heat wire in the dishwasher- its hard being a "domestic goddess"... haha)
Ilford ROCKS! When I first started photography that was all that I used.

My kids are all amped up about my camera- they cant believe how big it is.
I bought my 7 and 4 year olds little digi pen cameras for Christmas... but they are totally ahead of them. I am going to get them something heftier soon. Jordan (my soon to be 5 year old) is such a budding photog... here is one from his "collection"- he took this of our youngest (now 15 months old) at the park.
