As a new member I thought I'd just take the time to introduce myself:
My name is Dan Irwin I'm 18 go to school in the NY\NJ area, but I will be studying in Israel next year. Since I'll be abroad I thought it would be a good time to take up photography, something I've always wanted to do, but never gotten around to. Other interests I have include theater, art, and music (both classical and alt. rock), to pay for all this I do work in computer\network setup, repair, and consulting on the side.
In my free time I run a few mailing lists and web sites, here is a rundown:
DiscountTheater- http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/discountTheater - A mailing list that helps to discuss theater and art around the world, but mostly in NYC area. This was started a few months ago because the old group was unmoderated and filled with spam; Most of posts relate to sharing codes to get discounts on tickets to the theater and museums, but we discuss many thing.
"Life is a Cabaret"- http://www.hdanforth.com/cabaret - A blog I am going to start discussing shows I have been to and discounts I have found. I'm still setting up the site and haven't posted, but stay tuned.
"The Frugal New Yorker" - http://www.hdanforth.com/frugalNY - Another blog I am starting, more laid back, dealing my thoughts and views on various issues and experiences. As is my other blog its a work in progress and still being set up.
http://www.hdanforth.com/gallery - My photo gallery, right now its mostly digitized photos from disposable cameras and a few pics from my cellphone right now, but I plan on adding more as a I take them.
H. Danforth- http://www.hdanforth.com/joomla - the site that bring all my blogs and gallery together into a portal of sorts, its also still a work in progress.
Just to give credit where it is due 99.9% what you see on these sites right now wasn't created by me. The programs that run them are all what is known as "open source", many people have put in countless hours creating and testing them without getting paid; to all of them thank you.
That about all. Thank you for all the help I might need, sorry in advance if any more my questions are dumb, but try and cut me some slack I'm just a "newbie"
