    Impromptu Photogathering...

Monday I got an email from Paul saying he was heading to Florida and was thinking about spending a couple of days in North Carolina. A phone call determined that he was thinking of heading to Hatteras and wanted to know what there was to do there. I told him "See the lighthouse, see the Wright Brother's Memorial. There is nothing else out there. Come to Newport and I'll show you a lighthouse." So he did.

Paul and Michelle (a wonderful lady) arrived Tuesday evening and left Thursday morning. I took off work on Wednesday and took them to Cape Lookout Lighthouse and Shackleford Banks, where we took photo's of some wild horses. Those photo's will be posted soon.

Here is a quick shot of Paul and I showing off the size of our equipment...

Yes, I let him bring his canon thingy in my house!

Thanks Loupey! It was great to finally get to meet someone from PR. Paul and Sebastian were two of the guys who got me started on the right foot when I joined back in December, 2001, so meeting Paul was a special treat. We had a great time, and I told him to stop by on a weekend next time so we'll have more time to wander the county and take some pictures.

    A Couple More Shots

One smiling, one a little dark...

We were trying for a serious look, but it was taken before the flash finished recycling, so it came out a little dark - literally.

Two of my favorite PR buddies in one spot, that's great. Speed you and Paul have been around for a long time dishing out great advice and keeping thing lively, glad you were able to have a mini gathering.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

It was great meeting him and getting to know him. He's a fun guy to hang out with. It was also educational having him identify shore birds as we went along.

    Of course we can!

Would now be a good time to mention that his canon thingy didn't want to work? :-O
One of his batteries wouldn't hold a charge and the other one wouldn't seat right. In his defense, Paul did hold the battery in tight and took some shots with his 1D. But deep down, I know he's still a Nikon guy! ;-)

Which is the serious shot? My friend, I have two words for you: Reading Glasses!
    Hehehe. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Hmmm, I'm 5'7" tall. I'm not sure how tall Paul is, but he's definitely over 6 feet. It may be a fair comparison, with the roles reversed...
