    I'm wireless!!!

For the past four weeks I have been racking my brain trying to get Airport on my Mac working with a Linksys wireless router and Verizon modem. And today marks success!! I knew my Mac network setting were right, and previously I had the computer talking to the router but I couldn't get the router and modem to cooperate. Having talked with other people who were having similar problems (on PCs) the conclusion was that Verizon was the culprit, and the modem needed to be "released." So I did that, but still no connection. So I took a shot and decided to just manually type in my DNS and IP addresses into the router itself, which did the trick (so much for auto configuration). Neither Verizon nor Linksys were any help to me, and not being a network expert I'm pretty ecstatic I got it working all by my lonelome self! Now my wife can work online at the same time that I do, which was the whole reason for going wireless. Just had to let out a shout of joy!!

    Re: I'm wireless!!!

I know the feeling all too well... Long story short, wife's new laptop (PC) proves that 802.11b and 802.11g aren't as cross-compatible as they say!
