I have the 16-35 on order

Because the 24-70 is just not wide enough for some shots ...

... and I can't justify nearly twice the cost for the 14mm prime.
heck I can't really justify the 16-35 for only a few races, but i am sure it will find other uses !

Maybe I could have taken the OM-D as well and used the 7-14 (14-28) Panasonic lens.
But I didn't want to carry two camera systems.

Did you consider the 17-40mm f/4L, instead? I think it's an underappreciated lens. I used it with the 5D Mk III and found I really enjoyed it as an all-purpose lens. It's one stop slower than the 16-35mm f/2.8 and not quite as wide. But it's a lot smaller and lighter and the little extra bit of length means it works better as a "normal" lens so you don't have to switch to something longer as often as you would with the 16-35mm. Oh yeah - it's also a hell of a lot cheaper
