I GOT IT! I got my Adobe CS already!

I ordered it last Friday afternoon from the Wisconsin educational website. They delivered it today.

It is, indeed, CS 1.3, as I figured it would be (since I did order it, after all).

They must have actual inventory, as the package came from the Wisc address.

So now what do I do to find out if I can get the upgrade? Michael, you said there's a number to call for the Wisconsin site? Or should I call Adobe instead?

Doesn't it have an update feature, or is this an update you have to buy?

Almo, I bought the only version I knew about on Friday. On Monday Adobe announced the release of CS2. So I basically bought a previous version.

Adobe has the reputation of having a firm line drawn on this, I think.

You could try to plead your case with Adobe, but I don't think you'll get too far... Go to their site at www.adobe.com for the update. I know you can download directly, but may be able to buy the disc too. Remember that it doesn't come out until sometime next month though.

Re: I GOT IT! I got my Adobe CS already!

Gongratulations Kelly!! The info that I got from them yesterday was via email. I don't have the address in front of me (I emailed them from work) but you can find it on their website. They didn't have a lot of info yesterday, but the person who emailed me, said they should know more in a few days. You might want to try to contect them later this week, or sometime next week to see if they know anymore about it.

I think I'm going to go ahead and order the same thing that you did, and if I decide to upgrade later, I can. The original CS is leaps and bounds better than PS 5 which I have been using, so I'm sure I will be pretty happy with the original version of CS. Thanks again for the link to that site!!

Congrats on your software And man alive, it is a LOT of software. It's all supposed to be very integrated with each other, but there is a learning curve, and I'm still learning how to use the rest of the suite besides PS and Acrobat. I think I'll just live with the current suite until I've learned the rest of the applications before I buy another suite like this-could be 5 yrs for me at the rate I'm going

Re: I GOT IT! I got my Adobe CS already!

I think I'm done talking about this now, I'll try not to bore you with it anymore. I've decided what I'm going to do.

I'll email the UW WISCDOIT site and ask if they'll offer an upgrade. If so I'll probably get it, if not I'll just wait it out and use what I've got. It's not like I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed the features of the upgrade right now. I just want it cuz it's there. ;)

No sense bothering Adobe for this.

Today was like that song, "Oh oh the Wells Fargo Wagon is-a comin' down the road, oh please let it be for me!" I got my CS, as well as MS Office that I ordered at the same time; also my Finale upgrade that I ordered from a different site.

Now all I need is my HSN order and I'll be done. Oh wait, I'm also expecting the Canon AE1 et al from my friend. That should come in a few days too.

Let us know what you find out about the upgrade Kelly. I'm going to go ahead and order the original CS tonight.

Re: I GOT IT! I got my Adobe CS already!

just heard from the Wisc software site. They talked to Adobe, who now want me to call them and request the upgrade.

Gosh, I sure wish I didn't hate the phone so much. I'm dreading making this call, for no reason other than my phone phobia.

    Hey Kelly,

I got my upgrade to CS2 today!!! I'm still processing some photos from my trip, so I'm going to hold off on the instal till I'm done with them, just to be on the safe side.

As for your phone phobia, I called Adobe twice. Once to place my order, and again to verify they got my fax. Both times the women I talked to were extreamly pleasant and easy to talk to. You have nothing to fear from calling them. I wish every phone reb I spoke with were as nice as they were. Good luck with your upgrade!

I'm happy you got what you wanted Kelly. Is it cool? I still use Photoshop 7 so I guess I am a dork now. I have 5, 6 and 7. Plus L.E. and Elements, but I ain't got no CS or CS2. What is the real advantage for a guy like me to upgrade to CS2? Is there really any? I havn't been able to determin that myself.

Re: I GOT IT! I got my Adobe CS already!

almo, you don't shoot RAW, so I don't know. I haven't really used CS much, because I haven't been shooting much, therefore I'm not processing much. I have played around a bit with some old RAW files and I just love how CS handles them, but I don't have anything new at the moment.

Michael, I did make the phone call, and the guy was very nice, however, he sent the problem right back to the WISC people. He told me "Adobe doesn't have an educational upgrade to CS2 yet, but they will soon. Based on when I purchased 3.1, I'm eligible for the upgrade, but I'll have to go through WISC for it."

So I emailed WISC (who I've been working closely with), and told them what I was told by Adobe, and the WISC lady said she'd "find out what's going on."

I want to shoot in RAW. I have been using it off and on lately, but it really slows down my camera, and my conversions don't look any better than the JPEGS I shoot. I swear the next camera I get will do RAW+JPEG.

    *update*

I got a phone call from Adobe today; they are going to go ahead and send me the upgrade. Everything's all set up to go, I just need to fax them my proof of purchase and they'll drop it in the mail.

I'm glad I went ahead and bought that "Photoshop CS2 for Photographers" book!

    Re: *update*

Congrats Kelly!!! I only had CS installed for a couple of weeks before I got the CS2 upgrade, so I don't have any idea what the improvments are. I haven't gone thru any of the tutorials that came with the program yet either. This damn job keeps getting in the way of me having fun playing with my new toys.
