How are you spending the 4th of July?

Last year we went to my mom's. Played football, cooked out, and watched the fireworks from her yard.

    This year, probably the same.

From last year...I think I've posted these before.
    I sleep, but I don't rest.

Re: How are you spending the 4th of July?

I am going to spend it at work! Nothing going on until the evening and I will take the holiday later in the year.
Evening time will be spent with GF and her Grandson at the local HS which has a fireworks display. Tripod and camera for sure!

This year I'm going to do something completely different and I'll be camping with the family up in the mountains. Gonna be doing some MTBing, photographing, fishing, and relaxing. I haven't really had a good vacation yet this year.

This year I will sleep all day as I will have worked the night before. Then wake up, take the wife out for dinner probably. Then meet the photoclub on the lake front for the fireworks.

Re: How are you spending the 4th of July?

Our tradition is to have a cookout, and watch the fireworks at a friends place on the edge of town. It's always a good time, but this year I want to leave before the fireworks start. I want to take photos from a new location.

I'll probably stay home and keep the dog comforted. Fireworks scare the daylight out of her. However, I have this funny feeling this forum is going to be flooded with photos of foreworks on July 5.

FYI, we here in the Great White North spend July 1st doing what you folks do on July 4th...BBQs, fireworks, family visits, photos, etc.

    Cheers,

...resisting the urge to bring up the joke again about July 4th being the British Thanksgiving...

July 4th is my wife's birthday. I have not received my official orders yet.

Last year we were at my cousin's lake house complete with a replica of a civil war cannon. My son blowing it off....

This year it's in our backyard. We just finished our pool.

I remember that first one well Adina!

I am working all day... I'll try to run down to catch the fireworks after my kids group though. I've been craving a shot of people in the foreground and fireworks exploding behind. This year maybe I'll actually get it

Working. No fireworks here, land of the midnight sun, it never really gets dark enough to actually see fireworks.

Re: How are you spending the 4th of July?

In the UK it is just another day of course. But there is hardly a year goes by that some American on-line friend asks me "Do you have 4th of July?" - I always reply, "Yes of course, it always falls between 3rd July and 5th July"

Seriously, have a fun and safe one!

I'm confused. Are you working in Norway right now? Or doesn't Wyoming really ever get dark? If not, why?

Re: How are you spending the 4th of July?

We were thinking of getting on a harbor cruise and watching the fireworks from out in the lake. But we never booked the boat cuz I couldn't commit in time.

I'm supposing fireworks would be very hard to shoot from a boat.

I'll be rolling the BBQ grill up to my back door so I can grill burgers in the rain.
